LONDON — European stocks are expected to maintain their positive momentum as an end to the U.S.government shutdownis in sight.
The U.K.’s FTSE index is seen opening 0.6% higher, Germany’s DAX up 0.3%, France’s CAC 40up 0.3% and Italy’s FTSE MIB 0.37% higher, according to data from IG.
On Monday night, the U.S.Senatepassed abillto fund the federalgovernmentthrough January and end the longest shutdown in U.S. history.
The bill, which passed 60-40 with support from a handful ofDemocraticsenators and nearly all Republicans, will be sent to theHouse of Representatives. If it passes the House, the bill will head to PresidentDonald Trumpto be signed into law.
U.S. stock futures were near the flatline on Monday night while Asia-Pacific markets traded mixed, boosted by gains on Wall Street on Monday amid revived optimism around artificial intelligence that promptedNvidia, Google parentAlphabet andMicrosoft stocks to rally.
Earnings reports in Europe on Tuesday come from Softbank, Nebius, Munich Re, CEZ Group and Vodafone.
