(WO) – Hanwha Ocean has been awarded a module fabrication contract for the Leviathan Expansion Project by Chevron Mediterranean Ltd., supporting plans to increase production capacity at the giant offshore gas field in the Eastern Mediterranean.
The project involves fabrication of additional modules that will be integrated into the existing Leviathan offshore platform, enabling higher gas output to meet rising demand in Israel and regional export markets. Hanwha Ocean has been supporting early development work on the project since the third quarter of 2024, providing constructability input during the design phase.
Production from the Leviathan field — one of the largest offshore gas developments in the Eastern Mediterranean — is currently shut in due to the Iran conflict and retaliatory attacks across the region.
“We are honored to be awarded the Leviathan Expansion Project Module Fabrication and will remain fully committed to its safe, successful execution, reinforcing our long-term partnership with Chevron,” said Philippe Levy, President of Hanwha Ocean’s Energy Plant Unit, in a social post on Thursday.
