(WO) — Decom Engineering has appointed Keith McDermott as chairman as the offshore decommissioning and cutting technology specialist continues expanding its operations across offshore, industrial and energy transition markets.
McDermott previously served as a non-executive director with the company for four years and has experience supporting growth-stage businesses across engineering and energy sectors.
He was formerly commercial director and shareholder at Ecosse Subsea Systems, where he helped support the Aberdeen-based subsea company’s growth prior to its sale in 2018.
According to Decom, McDermott’s appointment is intended to support broader deployment of the company’s precision cold cutting technologies and engineered solutions across decommissioning, subsea and industrial applications.
“The business is thriving on the back of a number of innovative engineering product developments and contract awards,” McDermott said. “Decom has a lot to offer the energy decommissioning and infrastructure sectors.”
Decom Managing Director Nick McNally said the company expects McDermott’s experience in commercial strategy and scaling businesses to support the next phase of growth.
Founded in 2011, Decom Engineering develops precision cold cutting systems and related technologies used in complex dismantling, offshore decommissioning and infrastructure projects.
The company recently secured a U.S. patent covering elements of its proprietary Chopsaw cutting technology and said additional patent applications remain underway in multiple international markets.
