Eligible Amazon Prime members have one week left to claim a payment from Amazon’s historic $2.5 billion settlement over allegations the online gian enrolled customers in Prime without their consent and made cancellation difficult.
Claims must be submitted by July 27, 2026, and approved class settlement members can receive up to $51.
In a 2023 complaint, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) alleged Amazon subscribed millions of customers to Prime without their knowledge and made them jump through hoops to cancel. The FTC accused Amazon of using “manipulative, coercive or deceptive user-interface designs … to trick consumers into enrolling in automatically-renewing Prime subscriptions.”
In addition to $1 billion in FTC fines, Amazon agreed to pay $1.5 billion to affected customers and simplify its cancellation process.
Members who did not previously receive an automatic payment have until July 27, 2026, to submit a valid claim for compensation.
