(WO) — TGS has begun Phase 2 of its Orphan3D pre-stack depth migration (PSDM) reprocessing project offshore Newfoundland and Labrador, upgrading approximately 13,300 km² of 3D seismic data to support exploration in one of the North Atlantic’s most prospective offshore basins.
The project will apply TGS’ latest depth imaging technologies, including advanced Full Waveform Inversion (FWI) and proprietary imaging workflows, to improve subsurface imaging, structural definition and reservoir characterization across the survey area. The company said the enhanced dataset is intended to strengthen prospect evaluation and exploration planning while expanding its offshore Newfoundland and Labrador data library.
The reprocessing effort targets key Cretaceous and Jurassic exploration intervals and is expected to provide improved imaging across multiple structural and stratigraphic play types. TGS said the upgraded products will support more detailed geological interpretation and help exploration companies better evaluate opportunities in the basin.
The project builds on TGS’ long-standing investment in offshore Newfoundland and Labrador and is supported by industry funding. The company said the reprocessed data is expected to support continued exploration interest and future licensing activity in the region.

Early products from the reprocessing program are expected to be available in 2027, with final migrated volumes scheduled for delivery in the third quarter of 2027.
