SCA’s 1,000T onshore umbilical storage carousel will provide controlled quayside storage for Kosmos Energy’s subsea umbilical system in Mobile, Alabama, USA.
(WO) — Subsea Cable Assets (SCA) has secured its first contract with Kosmos Energy to supply an onshore umbilical storage carousel supporting subsea operations for a project in Mobile, Alabama.
Under the award, SCA will engineer, manufacture and deliver a newly designed 1,000-ton umbilical storage carousel, with delivery scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026. The system will be assembled on site under SCA supervision and will provide quayside storage and handling for Kosmos Energy’s subsea umbilical system ahead of offshore deployment.
SCA said the project expands its portfolio of cable handling and storage systems supporting offshore oil and gas, offshore wind and subsea cable developments.
“Securing this contract with Kosmos Energy further demonstrates our capability in this specialist area of cable handling and storage,” said Sil de Rijke, chief operating officer of SCA. “Our approach combines proven equipment with project planning, mobilization and operational execution to support safe and efficient project delivery.”
The Netherlands-based company manufactures cable carousels, loading towers and tensioners and has delivered more than 50 carousel systems worldwide through its engineering and manufacturing operations in Europe and Dubai.
