We're booking a five-fold profit on one of drug stock's rally to record highs
We’re selling 10 shares of Eli Lilly at roughly $1,269 each. Following Wednesday’s trade, Jim Cramer’s Charitable Trust will own 80 shares of LLY, decreasing its weighting in the portfolio to 2.6% from 2.9%. We’re locking in big gains in pharma giant Eli Lilly as shares jump to a fresh record high on Wednesday. Healthcare is having a standout session, rallying in part on a vicious rotation out of tech and AI stocks into other sectors, as well as a potential breakthrough in an experimental personalized cancer vaccine from Merck and Moderna , which is boosting sentiment in the sector. Merck rose 10% on the vaccine news, while Moderna soared more than 130%. This Lilly trim doesn’t reflect any change in our positive long-term view of the nearly $1.2 trillion market cap company and its position in the obesity market. In fact, on Monday, we noted that total prescriptions for Lilly’s GLP-1 pill, Foundayo, have started to gain ground on the oral version of Novo Nordisk ‘s Wegovy. Eli Lilly shares are up more than 7% for the week and have gained 18% this year. From this sale, we will realize a gain of about 430% on stock purchased in February 2022.
