US stock markets surged on Friday after a sharp sell-off in the previous trading session, as some stability returned to the bond market and helped ease pressure across financial markets.
At the opening bell, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 9.7 points, or 0.02%, to 52768.87. The S&P 500 rose 24.5 points, or 0.32%, to 7665.68, while the Nasdaq Composite rose 131.7 points, or 0.51%, to 26198.835.
Bond trading remained volatile on Friday, but movements in Treasury yields were less pronounced than earlier in the week. The relative calm in the bond market helped support investor sentiment and allowed the major US equity indices to recover.
