Iran and Oman on Tuesday discussed a proposal to establish a jointly managed shipping route through the Strait of Hormuz as well as a mission to clear mines from the key oil export corridor.
Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Albusaidi met with his Iranian counterpart Seyed Abbas Araghchi in Tehran where they discussed the future management of Hormuz.
“The proposed framework includes the establishment of a joint temporary navigational corridor through the Strait of Hormuz and an agreement to implement a joint project to clear the Strait of mines,” Oman’s Foreign Ministry said in a social media post.
