(WO) — Aker BP has started production from the Alve Nord, Idun Nord and Ørn fields in the Norwegian Sea, bringing approximately 120 MMboe of recoverable resources online one year ahead of the original schedule.
The three fields were developed as separate subsea projects under the coordinated Skarv Satellite Project. Each development comprises a subsea template and two wells tied back to the existing Skarv FPSO, allowing Aker BP to utilize existing infrastructure and extend the life of the broader Skarv production area.
“The start-up of the Skarv Satellites is an important milestone for Aker BP,” said CEO Karl Johnny Hersvik. “Through a single integrated project, we have brought three new fields on stream, one year ahead of the original schedule.”
Production from the satellite fields is expected to account for a significant share of Aker BP’s output from the Skarv area over the coming years while providing additional flexibility for future resource development.
The project was executed through Aker BP’s alliance model in cooperation with OneSubsea, Subsea7, Aker Solutions and Halliburton, with Saipem participating during the drilling phase. Approximately 60% of project deliveries were sourced from Norwegian suppliers.
With the startup, Aker BP has now brought online its full portfolio of subsea tieback projects sanctioned in 2022, according to Hersvik.
The three developments have an estimated CO₂ intensity of approximately 4.5 kg per boe, which Aker BP attributed in part to their use of existing Skarv infrastructure.
Aker BP operates all three developments, with interests ranging from 23.8% to 58.1%. Other partners across the licenses include Equinor, Harbour Energy, ORLEN Upstream Norway and JAPEX Norge.
