(WO) — NextOcean has secured a contract to install its WavePredictor vessel motion prediction technology aboard the ESVAGT NJORD service operations vessel (SOV), supporting offshore operations at the Dudgeon wind farm.
The system uses motion radar and software to provide crews with real-time predictions of vessel movements minutes in advance. The information is intended to support go/no-go decisions for personnel transfers and other operations during challenging sea conditions.
“On an SOV, the crew makes dozens of go/no-go calls a day,” said Karel Roozen, CEO of NextOcean. “Our system shows the officer on watch what the vessel is going to do in the coming minutes, so that call is backed by verified predictions and not by feel alone.”
ESVAGT NJORD is a dedicated SOV supporting operation and maintenance activities at the Dudgeon offshore wind farm. NextOcean said the technology can help crews identify suitable windows for technician transfers while improving operational decision-making.
The WavePredictor motion radar and accompanying software are scheduled to be installed aboard the vessel in August.
