US stock indices traded on a mixed note on Wednesday, as investors weighed renewed US-Iran clashes against signs of strength in the AI trade.
At the open, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 62.7 points, or 0.12%, to 52,829.58. The S&P 500 rose 3.1 points, or 0.04%, to 7,634.58, while the Nasdaq Composite dropped 5.8 points, or 0.02%, to 26,094.004.
After Tuesday’s surge, oil prices pulled back Wednesday, while yields on 10-year US Treasury bonds also retreated.
Data from payroll firm ADP showed private-sector jobs growth in August was 38,000, down from the month before and well below the analysts prediction.
The figures are closely monitored ahead of official employment numbers due Friday, although the reports can diverge.
