(WO) — Invictus Energy has awarded SLB a drilling and well services contract for the Musuma-1 exploration well in Zimbabwe’s Cabora Bassa basin, as preparations advance toward a planned November 2026 spud.
SLB will provide specialized well services, technology and operational resources for the drilling campaign. Equipment preparation, logistics and mobilization planning are underway ahead of operations.
“Securing SLB completes another critical component of the Musuma-1 campaign and significantly advances operational readiness ahead of drilling,” said Invictus Managing Director Scott Macmillan. SLB previously supported Invictus’ Mukuyu-2 drilling campaign in the basin.
Construction of the Musuma-1 wellpad, access roads and supporting civil infrastructure is also underway in preparation for mobilization of the drilling rig and well services equipment.
Separately, Exalo has begun maintenance, inspection and readiness work on Rig 202. Once the program is completed, the rig will be mobilized to the Musuma-1 wellsite for rig-up, commissioning and acceptance ahead of drilling.
Other work planned in the coming weeks includes mobilization of drilling materials, tubulars and wellhead equipment, as well as preparation and mobilization of SLB’s well services equipment.
Invictus said the parallel workstreams keep Musuma-1 on schedule to spud in November.
The exploration well forms part of Invictus’ ongoing exploration program in the Cabora Bassa basin and will test an independent exploration target within the Eastern Margin play.
