U.S. markets ended lower for a second consecutive day on Tuesday as sentiment was hit by a double whammy of rising Treasury yields and oil prices amid concerns over Middle East supply disruptions. Market participants were also keenly looking forward to Wednesday’s Federal Reserve interest rate decision to see whether the central bank would deliver a hike as widely anticipated. Meanwhile, data released by ADP Research showed US private employers added an average of 16,250 jobs per week in the four weeks ending August 29, 2026. The figure represents an increase from the prior week’s four-week moving average of 12,250 jobs, marking the second consecutive week of hiring growth.
Nasdaq fell by 204.84 points or 0.78 percent to 25,981.57, Dow Jones Industrial Average decreased by 328.09 points or 0.63 percent to 52,093.11 and S&P 500 was down by 34.25 points or 0.45 percent to 7,585.73.
