(WO) — J+S Subsea has partnered with Perth-based Pulse Technology Hub to expand its subsea controls business across Australia and the wider Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, targeting opportunities around late-life offshore assets and aging subsea infrastructure.
The partnership will give J+S Subsea access to Pulse’s local market knowledge, personnel and facilities in Western Australia. The agreement follows six months of joint market research focused on opportunities for the Aberdeen-based company’s subsea technology and services.
J+S Subsea said its analysis identified a growing requirement for support around aging subsea infrastructure and late-life assets, where having equipment and technical capabilities closer to operators could improve turnaround times.
The partnership will also extend J+S Subsea’s Legacy Locker program into the region. The program recovers, recertifies and reuses subsea equipment that might otherwise be scrapped, providing operators with available replacement components for existing infrastructure.
“Previous work in Australia has demonstrated to us the significant potential that exists not only in Australia itself, but across the wider APAC region,” J+S Subsea Managing Director Phil Reid said.
“This is not just about extending our geographic reach but about developing the right in-country relationships that will allow us to meet the evolving needs of clients in the region,” Reid added.
Pulse Technology Hub CEO Ian Grant said the companies see opportunities associated with Australia’s late-life offshore assets, aging infrastructure and demand for equipment reuse. Pulse will provide local relationships, market knowledge and in-country support as J+S Subsea develops its presence.
J+S Subsea expects the expansion to support additional jobs in both the UK and Australia as the partnership develops, although the company did not specify the number or timing of new positions.
