(WO) — Superior Energy Services has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Welltec International, expanding its well intervention and completions technology portfolio and increasing its international and offshore presence.
Denmark-based Welltec provides proprietary robotic, wireline-conveyed well intervention technologies and metal expandable packer systems for well intervention and completions. The company operates in more than 50 countries across major oil and gas regions and employs approximately 1,000 people.
Welltec’s intervention portfolio is anchored by its proprietary Well Tractor technology, which conveys specialized downhole tools used to manipulate, mill, clean, cut and retrieve wellbore components to repair wells and restore production. Its completions technologies include metal expandable packers designed to provide zonal isolation and support well integrity and reserves recovery.
The company also holds more than 800 active patents and maintains integrated engineering, research and development, and manufacturing capabilities.
“The acquisition of Welltec will advance Superior’s strategy of expanding its portfolio of differentiated wellbore technology products, well intervention solutions and proprietary completion services,” said Dave Lesar, chairman and CEO of Superior Energy Services.
Superior said the acquisition will increase its exposure to international and offshore markets while expanding its participation in customers’ operating expenditures. Following closing, Welltec is expected to become part of Superior’s Wellsite Solutions segment.
The transaction is expected to close during the first half of 2027, subject to regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
