(WO) — ABL has been appointed by Allseas as marine warranty surveyor for the single-lift removal of the Statfjord A topside in the North Sea, part of the decommissioning of the Equinor-operated platform.
Allseas is responsible for the engineering, preparation, removal and disposal (EPRD) of Statfjord A, a concrete gravity-base production platform.
The contractor will use Pioneering Spirit to remove the entire topside in a single lift before transporting it to a disposal yard for dismantling and recycling. Allseas is upgrading the vessel’s motion-compensated topsides lifting system from 48,000 tonnes to 60,000 tonnes for the operation.
Under its scope, ABL will conduct independent technical reviews of project procedures and provide marine assurance services to verify the suitability of the proposed vessel fleet. The company will also provide offshore personnel to witness and approve the operation.

ABL’s Norwegian operations will lead the marine warranty survey work with support from the company’s wider North Sea decommissioning team. The contract was awarded under ABL’s existing framework agreement with Allseas.
