(WO) – Zupt has signed a framework agreement with Mitang Brasil – Soluções Submarinas Ltda. to provide subsea survey, inertial metrology, remote metrology and 3D modeling services in Brazil. The agreement took effect Sept. 30 and makes Mitang Zupt’s local partner in the country. The two companies will jointly pursue work with operators and contractors offshore Brazil.
Under the agreement, Zupt’s C-PINS inertial metrology system and its 3D Recon subsea imaging and modeling system will be kept in Brazil. C-PINS takes the measurements needed to fabricate jumpers and spools between subsea assets. It can be run with survey crews offshore or remotely, with an onshore team managing data acquisition. 3D Recon builds detailed 3D models of subsea structures for contactless measurement, inspection and engineering assessment. Its uses include dimensional control, anode depletion and corrosion monitoring, and integrity management.
The companies said keeping the equipment in Brazil should cut down on repeated international shipments and make it easier to adjust when project scopes or schedules change.
Mitang, based in Rio de Janeiro, provides offshore survey and positioning services, including LBL positioning, USBL calibration, hydrographic survey, dimensional control and data processing. It will handle local commercial coordination and operational support, including logistics providers and customs. Zupt will keep technical oversight of its procedures, reports and deliverables.
Zupt has more than 20 years of experience in offshore surveying, positioning and sensor integration, with projects in more than 20 countries.
