(WO) – Shell Offshore has started production from Phase 3 of the Silvertip project, two wells that add output at the Shell-operated Perdido spar in the U.S. Gulf. The wells produce from the Silvertip Frio reservoir and are expected to reach a combined gross peak of up to 6,000 boed. Phase 3 holds an estimated 17 MMboe of gross recoverable resources, classified as 2P. Shell took the final investment decision on the project in December 2024.
The two wells are tied back to existing subsea infrastructure. Shell operates Silvertip with a 40% interest, and Chevron holds the other 60%.
“By adding new production through existing Perdido infrastructure, we can safely deliver more value and optimize the life of a world-class asset,” said Colette Hirstius, Shell’s executive vice president for the Gulf and president of Shell USA.
Perdido is in Alaminos Canyon, about 200 mi south of Galveston, Texas, in about 8,000 ft of water. It began producing in 2010. Ownership of the Perdido Regional Host is split among Shell (35%, operator), Chevron (37.5%), 3C Perdido Holdings (26.5%) and BP (1%).
