(WO) — Hephae Energy Technology has appointed industry veteran Andy Bruce as president, a move aimed at accelerating the commercial deployment of its ultra-high-temperature geothermal drilling and robotics technologies.
Bruce brings more than three decades of experience across the global energy sector, with leadership roles spanning downhole drilling technologies and energy service organizations. He previously held senior positions at Scout, Nabors Drilling Solutions, Balmoral Group, Trelleborg and Navigate Energy Services, and has led merger and acquisition initiatives and cross-functional teams across engineering, finance, IT and operations.
The company said the appointment comes as Hephae transitions from advanced technology development toward commercialization of its geothermal drilling systems. Its tools are designed to operate beyond the thermal limits of conventional downhole equipment, enabling access to deeper, hotter rock formations for next-generation geothermal projects.
“Hephae is tackling one of the most critical challenges in scaling superhot rock geothermal, with the need for reliable drilling and directional control in extreme temperature environments,” Bruce said in a statement, adding that he will focus on advancing deployment of the company’s technologies globally.
Hephae’s systems target ultra-high-temperature geothermal reservoirs, often referred to as superhot rock, which are seen as a pathway to scalable, firm geothermal power. The company said Bruce will support engineering, manufacturing, strategic partnerships and customer engagement as it advances toward first-of-a-kind field deployments.
The leadership appointment reflects the company’s focus on execution and market adoption as geothermal drilling technologies move closer to commercial-scale deployment.
