(WO) – Baker Hughes has launched a global network of Mature Assets Solutions (MAS) hubs to help operators get more out of aging fields. The company said mature fields are expected to account for about 80% of global oil and gas production by 2030. It announced the network Nov. 3 at ADIPEC in Abu Dhabi.
The network includes customer collaboration centers in the U.S., Brazil, Norway, Angola, the Middle East and Malaysia. At each hub, operators can work with Baker Hughes specialists in subsurface, wellbore, surface facilities and AI to develop solutions that extend asset life, improve production efficiency and support the retirement or repurposing of wells. The company said the connected network will let teams apply lessons from one basin to challenges in another.
“As operators turn to their existing oil and gas assets to drive production, innovative solutions are needed to address increasingly complex challenges,” said Amerino Gatti, Baker Hughes’ executive vice president of oilfield services and equipment. “Through our Mature Assets Solutions hubs, we connect Baker Hughes’ regional and global expertise with customer insights to provide outcome-based solutions that optimize value across the lifecycle of these assets.”
Baker Hughes pointed to several current mature-field projects. In Pakistan, the company recently began a multiyear project with Oil & Gas Development Co. Ltd. (OGDCL) to optimize production and recovery across more than 120 wells. In Kuwait, it is running an integrated polymer-flood pilot with Kuwait Oil Co. across 11 wells. In Brazil, it worked with Petrobras on an integrated workover and well abandonment project, and Baker Hughes said it achieved subsea abandonment times of under 20 days in the first year, some of the fastest in Petrobras’ history.
