(WO) – Aker Solutions has received a letter of award (LOA) from PTSC Mechanical and Construction (PTSC M&C) for detail design work on the redevelopment of the Maydan Mahzam oil field offshore Qatar. The company classifies the contract as “sizeable,” meaning it is worth NOK 0.5 billion to NOK 1.5 billion.
Aker Solutions will provide detail design for several offshore installations under PTSC M&C’s scope, including three major topsides, four jackets and brownfield tie-ins. The company’s engineering teams in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and Mumbai, India, will carry out the work.
Maydan Mahzam lies about 100 km (62 mi) northeast of Qatar’s coast and 28 km (17 mi) southeast of Halul Island, in about 40 m (131 ft) of water. The field and the nearby Bul Hanine field were discovered in the 1960s, and Maydan Mahzam has been producing since 1965. Operator QatarEnergy is planning a major redevelopment to upgrade the field and extend its life, and it selected PTSC M&C for a key package in the program.
“This award reflects the strength of our engineering organization and our long track record of delivering complex offshore projects,” said Guro Rausand, executive vice president of new build at Aker Solutions. “Together, we look forward to supporting the successful execution of the Maydan Mahzam project.”
The LOA is subject to a final contract. Once the contract is signed, Aker Solutions expects to book the order in the fourth quarter of 2026 in its Renewables and Field Development segment.
