(WO) — ABL Group has been appointed marine warranty surveyor (MWS) to support Subsea7 during transportation and installation activities tied to the Mero 3 and Mero 4 offshore Brazil developments in the Santos basin.
The work scope covers subsea risers, flowlines and associated SURF infrastructure for the Mero 3 and Mero 4 projects, which are located in water depths ranging from approximately 1,850 m to 2,100 m.
The projects include infrastructure connected to the FPSO Marechal Duque de Caxias at Mero 3 and the FPSO Alexandre de Gusmão at Mero 4.
ABL said its responsibilities include technical review and approval of engineering and operational documentation, suitability surveys for installation vessels, oversight of critical onshore and offshore operations, environmental criteria approval and participation in HAZID and HAZOP reviews.
Transportation and installation work is already underway, according to the company.
“We are pleased to support Subsea7 in this important next phase development of the Santos basin,” said Andreas Theophanatos, ABL regional director for Brazil. “Our track record as MWS on Mero 1 and 2 demonstrates ABL’s experience in the Mero field and our contribution to the safe and successful installation of SURF infrastructure in Brazil’s deep waters.”
The unitized Mero field is operated by Petrobras with partners Shell, TotalEnergies, CNPC, CNOOC and Pré-Sal Petróleo S.A. (PPSA).
ABL said its Brazil operation has supported more than 14 FPSO transportation and installation campaigns since 2020 and has also worked across multiple developments in the Buzios field.
