Home-sharing platforms have traditionally been a bit of a rewards black hole. There are typically few ways to earn or redeem points for services such as Airbnb outside of standard credit card earnings or cash-back redemptions. And credit card perks for homestays or short-term rentals are available, but not standard.
Amex is changing this by adding Airbnb bookings to its Amex Travel™ site and Airbnb benefits to cards such as the American Express Platinum Card® and The Business Platinum Card® from American Express.
With these additions, Amex is also adding a subtle change to how you redeem a key statement credit on the Platinum and Business Platinum. Here’s what you need to know about these changes and what they mean for you — plus information on new coworking space benefits for the Business Platinum.
The American Express Platinum Card® is a premium card loaded with annual statement credits, entertainment benefits, extensive airport lounge access, elite status perks and more. (Enrollment required for select benefits mentioned)
- Access to 1,550+ airport lounges, including Priority Pass™ lounges (enrollment required) and Amex Centurion lounges
- Statement credit offers worth up to twice what the annual fee costs
- Elite status perks for hotels and rental cars (Enrollment required for select benefits mentioned)
- High annual fee
- Many statement credit offers are complicated and are earned in increments or limited to specific purchases
- Not as rewarding for purchases as other lower-fee travel cards

Addition of Airbnb bookings and new rewards
You can now book over one million Airbnb listings through American Express Travel®. This is good news for Amex cardholders, because you can take advantage of the elevated earnings on Amex Travel™ bookings.
Amex Platinum and Business Platinum cardholders will also earn 5X points on prepaid Airbnb bookings you make through the Amex Travel™ platform.
Updated annual hotel statement credit
The Platinum and Business Platinum Cards’ up to $600 annual hotel credit is now a lodging credit and applies to prepaid Airbnb Luxe bookings of two nights or more. You’ll still receive up to $300 in statement credits semi-annually.
While this is a nice addition, the two-night minimum stay requirement to qualify for the lodging credit will also apply to prepaid American Express Travel® using the Platinum Card®.
*The Hotel Collection requires a minimum two-night stay. Effective January 1, 2027, Fine Hotels + Resorts® bookings will require a minimum two-night stay to be eligible for the $600 Hotel Credit., or Fine Hotels + Resorts®, bookings beginning Jan. 1, 2027. Until that time, you can earn the credit with a one-night prepaid FHR stay.
Previously, only stays booked through The Hotel Collection needed a stay of at least two nights to utilize the credit, but Fine Hotels + Resorts had no such requirement. Now, both will require at least two nights, which restricts some of the previous flexibility.
New Airbnb Experiences statement credit
Both consumer and business cardholders can now get up to $250 in annual Airbnb Experiences booking statement credits. So long as you book a prepaid Airbnb Luxe stay with Airbnb through AmexTravel.com or the Amex Travel App™ with your card, you can access the credit.
This credit isn’t directly applicable to your room and board, but it can help you enjoy your time at the location. Airbnb Experiences range from visiting cultural landmarks like the Empire State Building to going on curated food tours.
Amex Business Platinum only: Coworking access
In other Amex news, Business Platinum cardmembers now receive a complimentary American Express® ZO membership from Tishman Speyer. You can access over 20 ZO Clubhouse or Studio spaces across the U.S., specifically in New York, Boston, Washington, D.C., Chicago, San Francisco and Los Angeles.
The Business Platinum Card from American Express is a premium business card loaded with statement credit offers for business services and travel that help justify its steep annual fee.
- Access to 1,550 airport lounges, including Priority Pass (Enrollment required) and Amex Centurion lounges
