(WO) — Etu Energias and its partners in Angola’s Block 2/05 have successfully completed drilling, completion and testing operations at the Espadarte 7ST2 appraisal well in the Lower Congo basin offshore Angola.
The extended-reach deviated well, drilled to a maximum inclination of approximately 75 degrees, encountered eight productive intervals with a combined net thickness of 175 ft measured depth, confirming the presence of high-quality reservoirs with favorable porosity and permeability characteristics.
Initial production testing delivered stabilized flow rates between 2,000 bopd and 2,500 bopd with no associated water production, results the partners said reinforce the field’s development potential and support efforts to optimize production from the block.
According to Etu Energias, some reservoir intervals demonstrated porosity levels reaching up to 25%.
“The success of the ESP 7ST1 well is a milestone for the country and strategic for the company as well as for Block 2/05, particularly as it is the last development area of the block that is now entering production,” said Edson R. dos Santos, chairman of the board of directors of Etu Energias.
The operator said it plans to drill an additional appraisal well before finalizing the development plan for the Greater Espadarte area, underscoring continued confidence in the field’s long-term production potential.
Etu Energias added that redevelopment activities on Block 2/05 have generated more than 300 jobs and increased production by more than 20% over the past two years.
“With this progress, Block 2/05 enters a new phase, consolidating itself as a productive asset,” the partners said, highlighting the project’s contribution to Angola’s upstream oil sector.
