(WO) – Archer has won a two-year drilling contract, plus a one-year option, from Vista in Argentina’s Vaca Muerta shale play. The deal is worth an estimated $35 million to $40 million over the full term, including the option year, and adds Vista to Archer’s customer base in Argentina.
Archer will deploy its AC drilling rig DLS-156 to support Vista’s development program in the basin.
“The deployment of the DLS-156 shows the confidence leading operators place in our people, our technology, and our execution capabilities,” said Gerardo Molinaro, vice president of land drilling at Archer. “This agreement not only strengthens our presence in Vaca Muerta but also reinforces our commitment to supporting the long-term growth of Argentina’s energy industry.”
The contract comes as Vaca Muerta activity accelerates, with Vista signaling further growth in the play and new export capacity on the way through the Vaca Muerta Oil Sur pipeline, which Vista is helping fund.
