(WO) — BKV Corp. has completed its previously announced acquisition of Barnett shale upstream, midstream and carbon capture assets, adding more than 65 MMcfe/d of production and approximately 117,000 net acres to its Texas portfolio.
The transaction closed Sept. 15 following the satisfaction of customary closing conditions. Financial terms were not disclosed. BKV funded the acquisition with cash on hand and borrowings under its revolving credit facility.
The acquired assets include approximately 0.35 Tcfe of proved developed producing (PDP) reserves and roughly 1,000 gross operated wells, primarily in Montague County. More than 50% of the acquired production is liquids, according to BKV.
“These assets are a strong operational fit for BKV, and the acquisition builds on our disciplined approach to strengthening our position in the Barnett, adding low-decline production and reserves that integrate seamlessly with our existing operations and infrastructure,” said CEO Chris Kalnin.
The transaction also adds operated midstream infrastructure, including a gas plant with 180 MMcf/d of capacity and approximately 340 miles of owned gas gathering lines. The assets include about 225 miles of water gathering infrastructure and two saltwater disposal wells.
BKV also acquired an operated carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) project that captured more than 100,000 metric tons of CO₂ during the trailing 12 months through first-quarter 2026. The project includes three compressors, a gas plant, CO₂ pipeline and injection well.
BKV said the additional production and infrastructure will increase its scale in the Barnett while expanding natural gas volumes available to serve demand centers in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and along the Gulf Coast.
