(WO) — Capstone Energy+ has signed a 36-month lease agreement with Maurel & Prom to supply a C600 Signature Series microturbine for a flare gas recovery project at the operator’s onshore oilfield in Gabon.
The project will recover associated gas that would otherwise be flared and convert it into on-site electricity for field operations. Commissioning is expected in November 2026.
The microturbine will operate on recovered associated gas as part of Maurel & Prom’s flare gas valorization program, supporting efforts to reduce routine flaring while providing a reliable power source for the remote production site. The project is being delivered under Capstone’s Energy-as-a-Service (EaaS) model through a lease-to-own agreement, allowing the operator to deploy the equipment while minimizing upfront capital expenditures.
Capstone said its C600S microturbine is designed to operate on variable-composition fuel streams, including associated gas, and features an air-bearing, single-moving-part design intended to reduce maintenance requirements compared with conventional reciprocating engines. The system is designed for continuous operation in remote oilfield environments where maintenance access can be challenging.

The agreement reflects growing industry efforts to reduce routine gas flaring by converting associated gas into productive energy at the wellsite, particularly in regions where pipeline infrastructure is limited. Capstone said the lease structure also provides Maurel & Prom with options to purchase, renew or upgrade the equipment at the end of the initial 36-month term.
