Cramer says this industrial stock faces a do-or-die moment for our investment
Every weekday, the CNBC Investing Club with Jim Cramer holds a “Morning Meeting” livestream at 10:20 a.m. ET. Here’s a recap of Wednesday’s key moments. 1. The S & P 500 is little changed Wednesday, pressured by a rise in oil prices. West Texas Intermediate crude traded 2% higher, above $86 per barrel, following another round of U.S. strikes against Iran. Club holding Honeywell is up today after rising 1.6% Tuesday on strong earnings from fellow industrial stock 3M . Jim Cramer cautioned against adding Honeywell shares ahead of the company’s earnings, before the opening bell on Thursday. “This stock always goes down on earnings,” he said. “I don’t want anyone to think you should buy it ahead of earnings.” 2. Capital One shares fell over 2% after topping expectations for its second-quarter report Tuesday. Investors seem to want more proof that some of its acquisitions, including credit card company Discover and financial platform Brex, are paying off. Jim said investors need to be patient as CEO Richard Fairbank integrates the companies. “This is the only value play left in the banking industry,” he said. Portfolio director Jeff Marks added that Capital One’s low multiple means “any sign of good news” can help the stock rally. 3. Dover reports Thursday, and we’re looking for signs that the momentum from its solid first quarter has continued. Marks said a full-year guidance raise would help. Even with a strong showing, it’s unclear if the industrial stock is exciting enough to draw investor interest in this AI-dominated market. The company has some ties to AI through liquid cooling in data centers, but also has less exciting businesses like can-making and textiles. Jim votes to oust the stock from the portfolio if it fails to show and prove. “My vote is if they don’t come through this quarter, see you later,” he said. 4. Stocks covered in Wednesday’s rapid fire at the end of the video were Super Micro Computer , AT & T , and CoreWeave . (Jim Cramer’s Charitable Trust is long HON, DOV, and COF. See here for a full list of the stocks.) As a subscriber to the CNBC Investing Club with Jim Cramer, you will receive a trade alert before Jim makes a trade. Jim waits 45 minutes after sending a trade alert before buying or selling a stock in his charitable trust’s portfolio. If Jim has talked about a stock on CNBC TV, he waits 72 hours after issuing the trade alert before executing the trade.
