(WO) — ECOncrete and Submar have formed a strategic partnership to provide bio-enhancing concrete mat systems for the protection of pipelines and other offshore infrastructure across the Gulf region.
Under the commercial agreement, Submar will manufacture, market and distribute its articulated concrete revetment mats incorporating ECOncrete’s bio-enhancing concrete technology. The system is designed to provide erosion protection and stability while supporting marine habitat development.
The agreement follows a two-year collaboration during which the companies produced more than 1,000 enhanced Submar Mats for marine projects.
Offshore applications include protection for gas pipelines, subsea cables, transmission lines and floating and fixed energy infrastructure. The technology can also be deployed for nearshore erosion control, coastal restoration and shoreline stabilization.
“As more energy and data infrastructure moves into coastal waters and farther offshore, protecting those assets is becoming more important than ever,” said Joseph Fournet, president of Submar. “Bringing Submar’s experience in erosion control together with ECOncrete’s technology gives our customers a practical way to protect their infrastructure and support the surrounding marine environment at the same time.”
ECOncrete said its technology has been deployed across more than 60 nearshore and offshore projects globally. The new agreement expands the companies’ ability to deploy the combined mat system for Gulf Coast and offshore projects as energy and other marine infrastructure development continues in the region.
