(WO) — Emerson has introduced its Rosemount 8795 Magnetic Flow Sensor, designed to provide accurate flow measurement and monitoring for chilled water and water-glycol cooling systems used in data centers.
The new sensor is intended to support cooling system reliability and efficiency as data centers expand to accommodate growing digital infrastructure and computing demands. It integrates with Emerson’s existing Rosemount magnetic flow transmitters and is designed to simplify installation, commissioning and ongoing system monitoring.
The Rosemount 8795 supports Emerson’s Short Run Installation software, which enables flow measurement in space-constrained installations where conventional straight pipe requirements cannot be met. When paired with compatible transmitters, the sensor can achieve 0.5% accuracy under specified conditions with no straight upstream pipe run.
For installations with sufficient straight pipe lengths, the sensor provides accuracy of 0.2% ± 2 mm/s. It also offers 0.1% repeatability and supports pipe sizes ranging from 2 to 18 inches.
“As data centers expand to support growing digital infrastructure demands, the Rosemount 8795 applies decades of Emerson flow measurement expertise to help operators improve reliability, simplify deployment, and maximize cooling system performance in mission-critical applications,” said Bob Halgren, vice president of magnetic and vortex flow products at Emerson.
The sensor incorporates built-in diagnostics and verification capabilities through compatible Rosemount transmitters, allowing operators to monitor cooling system performance and identify potential measurement issues. Flow data can also be integrated into building management systems and data center infrastructure management platforms to support water and energy efficiency monitoring.
Designed for closed-loop cooling applications, the Rosemount 8795 features a polytetrafluoroethylene liner and stainless-steel electrodes. Additional capabilities include Modbus communication, dual 4–20 mA outputs and support for AC or DC power.
The introduction expands Emerson’s magnetic flow measurement portfolio with a sensor specifically configured for data center cooling applications.
