(WO) — Emerson has launched PACEdge 3.0, an updated industrial internet of things (IIoT) software platform designed to bring artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning and advanced analytics closer to industrial operations.
The platform is designed to aggregate data from disparate IIoT technologies and make that information available to applications running at the industrial edge. Emerson said the technology can support AI-based analytics, machine vision, visualization and other applications used across oil and gas and other industrial sectors.
PACEdge 3.0 uses containerized applications that can process data close to where operations are performed, allowing users to generate real-time insights without relying solely on centralized systems.
“Amidst increasing competition, workforce shortages and the rise of AI, deploying software in the most performant and cost-effective way is a critical enabler of competitive advantage,” said Sean Saul, vice president of product for Emerson’s process systems and solutions business.
“The PACEdge 3.0 software platform provides a suite of tools and services to make it easier for teams to deploy or build their own analytics, AI and machine learning applications, dashboards, graphics and data visualizations as close as possible to where work is performed,” Saul added.
The updated platform also introduces a group manager that allows operators to remotely manage multiple edge devices across a facility or enterprise. Users can deploy updated dashboards, security patches, operating system updates and other features across groups of devices through a graphical interface.
Emerson has also expanded integration with its PACEdge application marketplace, providing a central repository where users can find and deploy applications for containerized workloads at the edge.
The company said the enhancements are intended to reduce the time and complexity involved in deploying industrial edge applications while helping operators extract more operational value from IIoT data.
