(WO) – The Equinor-operated Wisting partnership has awarded Aibel a FEED contract for the topsides of the field’s planned production vessel. The contract follows a competitive tender among Norwegian suppliers and includes an option for engineering, procurement and project management. According to Aibel, about 250 people will work on the contract. A contract for fabricating the topside modules will be awarded later.
“We are at an early stage in the development of Wisting, and considerable work remains to develop a project that is profitable and feasible,” said Trond Bokn, Equinor’s senior vice president for project development. He said the FEED work “will form part of the overall basis for a potential investment decision.”
The partners plan to select a development concept and decide whether to move forward with Wisting by the end of 2026, with an investment decision planned for late 2027. If developed, Wisting is expected to operate for 30 years. Drilling, wells and subsea development would account for about half of the total investment.
Equinor operates Wisting with a 42.5% interest. Its partners are Aker BP (27.5%), Petoro (20%) and INPEX Idemitsu Norge (10%).
