(WO) – GeoPark reported a steady start to 2026, with production from its core assets in Colombia and Argentina increasing versus the previous quarter and coming in above plan.
The company posted average production of 27,249 boed in the first quarter, supported by strong performance in Colombia’s Llanos basin. Waterflooding activity in the Llanos 34 Block continued to deliver results, accounting for a growing share of output, while production in the Llanos 123 Block rose on the back of base performance and secondary recovery projects.
Operations in the CPO-5 Block were temporarily affected by blockades during the quarter, though production still exceeded internal targets and activity is expected to ramp up in the coming months.
In Argentina, GeoPark initiated drilling in the Loma Jarillosa Este Block in the Vaca Muerta shale play, marking a key step in advancing its unconventional portfolio. The company is also expanding infrastructure at the site, including increased processing capacity and additional water handling and gas treatment facilities.
Across its portfolio, GeoPark operated nine rigs during the quarter, including both drilling and workover units, and completed four wells in Colombia.
Looking ahead, the company plans to accelerate activity in the second quarter, including additional drilling in Colombia and hydraulic fracturing operations in Argentina, as it targets a mix of development, appraisal and exploration opportunities.
The update reflects GeoPark’s focus on maintaining stable production from its core Colombian assets while progressing new growth opportunities in Argentina’s unconventional plays.
