(WO) — Horizon Petroleum has completed the mechanical phase of its Lachowice 7 (L7) gas well workover in southern Poland, clearing the way for re-perforation, acid stimulation and production testing of the Upper Devonian reservoir.
The company has successfully milled and recovered the downhole packer and completion equipment installed when the well was suspended in 1999. During the operation, more than 200 m³ of completion fluid was lost to the formation and natural gas entered the wellbore. The gas was controlled and cleared, with no further incursion reported.
Horizon said the fluid losses indicate that existing perforations into the naturally fractured Devonian carbonate reservoir remain open, while the gas encountered during the workover confirmed the presence of natural gas.
The company now plans to re-perforate approximately 65 m of gross reservoir interval before installing the final completion string. A diverted acid stimulation and production testing program is expected during the second half of September, subject to service-provider availability.
Lachowice 7 has previously flowed at rates of up to 8.9 MMcfd, including a sustained controlled rate of approximately 3.0 MMcfd over a two-week period. The upcoming testing program will assess the well’s current sustainable production capability.
“The next major step in demonstrating the deliverability of the naturally fractured Upper Devonian reservoir at L7 is the successful execution of the diverted acid stimulation and subsequent production testing program,” said Roger McMechan, COO of Horizon Petroleum.
Following testing, Horizon plans to temporarily suspend the well in preparation for potential future commercial production.
