(WO) – The National Ocean Industries Association (NOIA) has urged the Senate to pass the Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act, following the release of a manager’s amendment to the permitting reform bill ahead of a cloture vote scheduled for Nov. 9.
“We appreciate the good-faith, bipartisan work by Senators Capito, Lee, Whitehouse, and Heinrich to move permitting reform forward,” said NOIA President Erik Milito. “This legislation will help lower energy costs and make everyday goods and services more affordable, provide greater certainty for investment, and support jobs and economic opportunities in communities across the country. We urge the Senate to pass it without delay.”
The bill was developed by the chairs and ranking members of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee and the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee. Oil and gas trade groups have backed the legislation since the senators released it in September.
