(WO) — Oil Spill Response Limited (OSRL) has added 4D Nav LLC to its Global Subsea Response Network (GSRN), expanding the network’s digital navigation, visualization and situational-awareness capabilities for subsea well response operations.
4D Nav specializes in offshore navigation software, real-time operational visualization, remote situational awareness and digital project modeling. OSRL said the technology can provide response teams with a common operating picture of vessel positions, remotely operated vehicle (ROV) activity, subsea assets, exclusion zones and other infrastructure during complex offshore incidents.
The company’s capabilities could support multi-vessel coordination, ROV tracking, capping stack deployment planning and shallow-water split-lowering operations. Recorded operational data and replay capabilities can also be used for post-operation analysis and response exercises.
“Joining the GSRN is an important milestone for 4D Nav because it allows us to contribute our navigation, visualisation, and remote situational awareness expertise to a broader industry preparedness framework,” said Cory Goodyear, chief revenue officer of 4D Nav. “Subsea response depends on accurate information, shared context, and disciplined coordination.”
As part of the network, 4D Nav will work with OSRL and other participants to determine how digital tools, regional survey capabilities, data integration and remote support can be incorporated into subsea response planning and exercises.
The collaboration will also support regional preparedness efforts by allowing survey providers, equipment spreads, communications pathways and digital project data to be identified before an incident occurs, according to OSRL.
OSRL established the GSRN to improve coordination and preparedness for subsea well incidents, including source-control operations. The network develops response models, technical guidance and exercises while promoting coordination among operators, contractors and response organizations.
