(WO) — Petrobras has awarded Strohm B.V. and its Brazilian subsidiary a contract to supply thermoplastic composite pipe (TCP) for water injection and gas lift applications in Brazil’s deepwater post-salt province.
The TCP will be deployed in water depths of up to 1,500 meters. The contract also covers qualification testing, project engineering, field services and support for offshore trials and installation.
As part of the project, Petrobras will assess the technology under actual operating conditions, including its handling and installation from typical pipelay vessels in the operator’s fleet.
Strohm’s TCP is manufactured using carbon or glass fiber and polymers such as polyethylene or polyamide. The spoolable, non-corrosive pipe is designed as a lighter alternative to conventional flexible and rigid pipelines, potentially simplifying offshore transportation and installation.
“Winning this contract is a significant endorsement of Strohm’s technology and capabilities, as well as an important milestone in our roadmap, paving the way to further developments in country,” said Renato Bastos, vice president of Strohm Brasil.
Strohm CEO Martin van Onna said the project reflects Petrobras’ efforts to introduce advanced pipe technologies aimed at improving operational efficiency and reducing production costs.
The companies did not disclose the contract value, volume of pipe to be supplied or the specific post-salt fields where the technology will be deployed.
