(WO) – Sable Offshore Corp. is ramping production at its Santa Ynez Unit offshore California while navigating ongoing legal challenges tied to the restart of its pipeline system.
The company said oil transportation through segments of the Santa Ynez Pipeline System (SYPS) has resumed under its pipeline integrity management program, supporting increased output from offshore platforms. Currently, 40 wells across Platform Harmony and Platform Heritage are producing an average of approximately 750 bpd per well, with additional wells expected to come online.
Sable also expects Platform Hondo to begin production in June 2026, targeting peak output of about 10,000 bpd. The company plans to invest roughly $180 million through year-end on facility upgrades, maintenance and production optimization.
However, the pipeline restart remains subject to ongoing legal and regulatory disputes. California state authorities and local agencies have challenged the restart, and court rulings have imposed restrictions tied to permitting and environmental compliance.
The U.S. federal government has moved to support continued operations under emergency authorities, highlighting the role of domestic energy supply, but conflicts between federal directives and state-level approvals remain unresolved.
Sable is also pursuing legal action tied to permitting and regulatory issues, seeking damages from both the California Coastal Commission and Santa Barbara County.
Despite the legal uncertainty, the company said it has produced more than 1 million barrels from the Santa Ynez Unit to date and continues to advance operations where permitted.
