(WO) — Sable Offshore Corp. is targeting a fourth-quarter 2026 restart of Platform Hondo offshore California after completing reconstruction and internal operational commissioning of the facility.
Sable said it has modernized Hondo from a manually controlled platform with updated instrumentation, control and safety systems. The company expects a final review and approval of its commissioning submission in October, with additional testing and commissioning also planned during the month.
Ahead of the restart, Sable plans to accelerate four additional perforation addition operations on Hondo. The work would bring the total to nine of the platform’s 15 production wells, compared with five previously expected before startup.
Each perforation addition is estimated to increase base well production by approximately 600 bpd at a cost of about $800,000 per operation, according to Sable.
The company is also upgrading its Las Flores Canyon Midstream Processing Facility to accommodate production from Hondo alongside Platforms Harmony and Heritage. The facility currently processes approximately 80% of the productive capacity of Harmony and Heritage.
Sable expects the upgrades to allow Las Flores Canyon to handle the full productive capacity of all three Santa Ynez Unit platforms and reduce production downtime following Hondo’s restart.
Separately, Sable estimated gross oil sales averaged approximately 32,000 bpd during July and August, with September volumes expected to reach approximately 34,000 bpd. The company has experienced third-party sales constraints since the second half of August and is working with midstream and downstream partners to address them.
Sable expects crude nominations to average approximately 38,000 gross bpd in October and reach an estimated exit rate of 45,000 gross bpd by month-end, before the addition of expected Platform Hondo volumes.
