(WO) — Saipem has secured approximately US$930 million (€800 million) in new contracts from Eni, led by work on the third development phase of the Baleine oil and gas field offshore Ivory Coast.
Awarded by Eni Côte d’Ivoire and its partners, the offshore contract covers engineering, procurement, construction and installation activities for Baleine Phase 3, which will further expand production from one of West Africa’s most significant recent offshore discoveries. The field is located in water depths of up to 1,300 meters.
The project includes the installation of subsea production infrastructure, flowlines, risers, umbilicals and associated systems needed to support the next phase of field development. Offshore construction is expected to take approximately three years using Saipem’s FDS and Shen Da vessels.
The remaining portion of the award covers engineering, procurement and construction of a new deoxygenation unit at Enilive’s Venice biorefinery in Italy. The project is designed to increase hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) biofuel production and builds on Saipem’s ongoing collaboration with Eni in renewable fuels.
For upstream markets, the Baleine Phase 3 award represents the latest milestone in Eni’s continued investment offshore Ivory Coast, where the supermajor has rapidly advanced development of the giant oil and gas discovery. The project further reinforces demand for deepwater engineering and subsea construction services as operators continue expanding production from high-impact offshore assets.
Saipem said the awards strengthen its long-standing relationship with Eni across both conventional offshore developments and energy transition projects.
