(WO) – SLB has launched its ChampionX nano-enabled chemical technology portfolio at ADIPEC in Abu Dhabi. The portfolio is a range of production chemistry products designed to help operators address scale, corrosion, paraffin and heavy oil recovery challenges in mature wells. It combines nanomaterials with high-performance chemicals, and SLB plans to expand it with solutions for production optimization, flow assurance and enhanced recovery.
The first technology in the portfolio is Extended Release, a nano-enabled scale squeeze treatment. It uses engineered nanoparticles that attach to reservoir rock surfaces and gradually release scale inhibitor into produced water. According to SLB, offshore deployments of Extended Release have delivered more than twice the treatment life of conventional scale squeeze treatments. The company said this reduces the need for repeat interventions, supports production continuity and lowers total operating costs.
SLB said the portfolio is backed by research, laboratory testing and field validation. The company added ChampionX’s production chemicals business through its $7.8-billion acquisition in July 2025.
