(WO) – SLB OneSubsea has been awarded a contract by Aker BP to deliver subsea production systems, umbilicals and associated services for the Lyra field development on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, according to SLB. Lyra was formerly known as Kjøttkake.
Aker BP and SLB OneSubsea shaped the development strategy from the early stages of the project under Aker BP’s alliance model. The field will be developed as a subsea tieback to existing infrastructure using proven, standardized subsea technology intended to reduce development complexity, improve execution efficiency and accelerate the path to first production.
Marte Mogstad, senior vice president at Aker BP, said the alliance with SLB OneSubsea and standardized subsea technology have been central to how Lyra is being developed, and that the project demonstrates how the partners can make marginal resources economically viable through fast-track execution, with three years from discovery to first oil.
Mads Hjelmeland, chief executive officer of SLB OneSubsea, said Lyra shows what is possible with fast-track field development and that working together from the earliest stages allows the partners to shape development strategies around customers’ priorities.
