(WO) — SLB and Shearwater GeoServices have launched the Amapá 3D multi-client seismic survey offshore northern Brazil, targeting an underexplored area of the Equatorial Margin as exploration interest grows following the recent Morpho hydrocarbon discovery.
The survey is located offshore Amapá, approximately 130 km from the Morpho exploration well. SLB said the project is designed to expand 3D seismic coverage and improve subsurface understanding and prospect evaluation across the area.
“The Morpho discovery has brought new attention to exploration offshore Amapá,” said Andrea Lovatini, vice president, Exploration Data and Geosolutions at SLB. “As customers assess opportunities across the area, Amapá 3D will provide a clearer picture of the subsurface to help them evaluate prospectivity and make better-informed investment decisions.”
Shearwater will acquire high-density broadband seismic data using its Isometrix marine seismic technology aboard the Amazon Warrior. SLB will process and image the data using advanced workflows, including elastic full-waveform inversion.
The partners expect the resulting dataset to provide regional subsurface information for prospect evaluation and support future exploration and licensing activity across Brazil’s Equatorial Margin.
The Amapá 3D project represents one of SLB’s largest investments in exploration data across the deepwater Atlantic Margin and expands Shearwater’s presence in the multi-client seismic market.
