(WO) – Aker BP has awarded Subsea7 a contract worth up to $300 million for the Lyra field development, formerly known as Kjøttkake, in the northern North Sea. Lyra is a fast-track development targeting first oil in 2028, only three years after discovery.
The field lies about 44 km (27 mi) from the Gjøa platform and will be tied back to Gjøa through existing Nova field infrastructure. Subsea7’s scope covers engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) of gas lift and production pipelines and associated subsea infrastructure. The production pipeline will use a pipe-in-pipe design.
To keep the project on its accelerated schedule, Subsea7 received a pre-commitment for critical long-lead items in December 2025. Project management and engineering will begin immediately at the company’s Stavanger office, and pipeline fabrication will take place at its Vigra spool base in Norway. Offshore installation, using vessels from Subsea7’s fleet, is scheduled across 2026, 2027 and 2028.
“Lyra showcases the strength of the Aker BP Subsea Alliance,” said Erik Femsteinevik, vice president, Norway, at Subsea7. “From securing long-lead items to mobilizing engineering, fabrication and offshore resources, this award demonstrates Subsea7’s ability to deliver first production at exceptional speed.” The alliance is a partnership between Aker BP, Subsea7 and OneSubsea.
