(WO) — Delfin LNG has awarded TDI-Brooks a contract to perform offshore geophysical and geotechnical surveys for the Delfin Deepwater Port Project offshore Louisiana, marking another step in the development of the proposed floating LNG export facility.
Under the contract, TDI-Brooks will serve as the prime contractor, conducting geophysical survey operations and managing the geotechnical investigation with subcontractor Tolunay-Wong Engineers (TWE).
Geophysical data acquisition is scheduled to begin in late August using the R/V Brooks McCall, followed by geotechnical investigations expected to start in late September. The survey program will collect seabed and subsurface data needed to support engineering and development of the offshore port infrastructure.
The Delfin Deepwater Port Project is planned as the first offshore LNG export facility in the United States utilizing floating LNG (FLNG) technology. Located at a brownfield deepwater port in the Gulf of Mexico offshore Louisiana, the project will leverage existing infrastructure, including Delfin’s acquired UTOS pipeline system.
The full development is expected to include up to three floating LNG vessels with a combined liquefaction capacity of approximately 13.2 MMtpa. The first FLNG unit is planned to produce about 4.4 MMtpa.
