(WO) – The Railroad Commission of Texas (RRC) will hold a public hearing at 10 a.m. on Nov. 20 to take comments on proposed rule amendments implementing Senate Bill 1150, the 2025 law that set new deadlines for operators to plug or reactivate inactive wells. The amendments would change the RRC’s rules on surface equipment removal and inactive wells, and on certificates of compliance, transportation authority and operator reports.
The hearing will be held in person in Room 1.111 of the William B. Travis Building at the RRC’s Austin headquarters and online via Zoom. In-person participants will comment first, followed by remote participants. The hearing will be recorded so the RRC can consider all written and oral comments.
In-person attendees can register to speak on arrival. Virtual participants who wish to speak must register by 5 p.m. on Nov. 19 by emailing the RRC rules coordinator at [emailprotected] with a request to comment, their name, title and affiliation, and an email address and daytime phone number. The hearing will also be streamed at https://adminmonitor.com/tx/rrc/.
