(WO) — Vallourec has secured a contract from TotalEnergies to supply more than 16,000 tons of tubular products for the development of the Absheron offshore gas field in Azerbaijan’s sector of the Caspian Sea.
The contract covers oil country tubular goods (OCTG) and approximately 159 km of line pipe, supporting drilling, completion and pipeline infrastructure requirements for the gas development.
Under the OCTG portion of the agreement, Vallourec will supply premium tubular products equipped with its VAM connections, including the VAM SLIJ-3 semi-flush connection designed for demanding offshore applications. The package also includes completion accessories and Vallourec’s CLEANWELL dope-free technology, which is designed to improve operational efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
The line pipe scope includes approximately 159 km of pipe with anti-corrosion coating for onshore and offshore applications. Vallourec will also provide local operational support through its VAM Caspian subsidiary.
Located approximately 100 km southeast of Baku in water depths of around 500 m, the Absheron gas field is being developed to produce up to 6 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually and 47,000 bpd of condensate. Production will serve Azerbaijan’s domestic market and support gas exports.
“We are pleased to have been selected by TotalEnergies for the Absheron project,” said Philippe Guillemot, chairman and CEO of Vallourec. “This award demonstrates the confidence our customers place in Vallourec’s ability to deliver comprehensive premium tubular solutions for both OCTG and line pipe for complex energy projects.”
Vallourec said the contract combines its global manufacturing capabilities with local support in the Caspian region to meet the project’s technical requirements and delivery schedule.
Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
