(WO) — Viking Completion Technology has established a new API-certified manufacturing, testing and service facility in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, expanding its ability to supply locally manufactured well completion equipment to operators in the Kingdom.
The facility was established through a joint venture with Abdulrahman Algosaibi Holdings (AGH), which operates several Saudi-based businesses, including Intelligent Energy Services (i-Energy) and Extreme Precision Company (XPRECISION).
According to Viking, the facility is one of only two in Saudi Arabia holding API Q1, API 14A, API 11D1, API 19AC and API 14L licenses. These certifications support local manufacturing of completion equipment, including subsurface safety valves, packers, seal assemblies, sliding side doors and landing nipples.
The new operation will also provide equipment assembly, testing and completion assembly services, reducing reliance on imported products and supporting shorter delivery times for Saudi oil and gas operators.
“Achieving API-certified status and launching our Saudi Arabia entity is a huge milestone for our dedicated team,” said Willie Morrison, managing director of Viking Completion Technology.
The Dhahran facility complements Viking’s existing operations in Dubai, which have supplied completion equipment to international customers for nearly 30 years.
Viking said the development follows five years of investment in establishing its Saudi operations. The company has also conducted equipment trials in the Kingdom over the past three years and plans additional testing and the introduction of new product variations over the next 12 months.
The expansion supports Viking’s participation in Saudi Arabia’s In-Kingdom Total Value Add (IKTVA) initiative, which encourages local manufacturing and supply chain development in the energy sector.
