(WO) – Wood has partnered with Databricks to help energy companies move AI from pilot projects into enterprise-scale use across the asset lifecycle. The companies announced the partnership Nov. 3 in Abu Dhabi. It combines Databricks’ Data + AI Platform with Wood’s engineering, operational and asset expertise to apply AI to complex industrial challenges, from project delivery through operations and maintenance.
The partnership builds on several years of work with shared clients. That work includes an AI-enabled engineering solution that, according to Wood, cut the time needed for critical-path document review and quality assurance by 75%. The companies said the solution sped up project delivery while keeping engineering oversight in place.
“Technology alone doesn’t deliver outcomes. Real value comes from combining advanced AI capabilities with deep engineering and operational expertise,” said David Cole, chief operating officer, consulting, at Wood. “This partnership will help clients move beyond AI experimentation and deploy practical, scalable solutions.”
Mustafa Ashraf, UAE country manager at Databricks, said many energy AI projects stall because the models lack the engineering and operational context of real-world assets. “Wood brings deep expertise in how complex industrial assets are designed, built, operated and maintained, and the Databricks Data + AI Platform gives that knowledge a governed foundation to scale,” he said. “Together, we’re helping customers move AI out of the pilot phase and into the everyday work that drives safer, more productive and more profitable operations.”
